2010 Awards and Criteria


	Historic Places Initiative Award Grade 4 to 10. Theme must be an historic place in British Columbia. Project must highlight an aspect of history or heritage related to buildings or the built environment
	BC Hydro Power Pioneer Award Grade level from 4 to 10. Ideally theme centered on a story involving BC Hydro or its predecessors. Where there is no project meeting the above criteria, the award may be presented to a project on a BC pioneer.
	Canada's History Award: For the Heritage Fairs Project that best integrates the use of written research and visual materials as inseparable elements to successfully present their topic. The award is intended to remind students that there are many ways to tell a story, as well as recognize the combination of writing skills, organization and planning, as well as artistic and graphic skills that it takes to effectively communicate a topic or story to a broader popular audience.
	The United Empire Loyalists' Association of Canada Award Grade 4 to 10 Ideally, the selected Project will have a theme centered on the settlement and growth of Canada prior to Confederation (1867) in particular, the Loyalists or their descendants.
	Kitsumkalum Treaty Office Tsimshian History Award Excellence award for bsentation of Tsimshian history and culture.
	Heritage Park Museum History Award In recognition of excellence in researching and presenting community heritage
	Kitimat Museum and Archives For excellence in presenting aspects ofcultural, group, and/or community history
	Robin Austin, MLA, History Award Award of achievement for excellence in presenting aspects of cultural, group and/or British Columbia’s history.
	Nathan Cullen MP History of Canada Award Award of achievement for excellence in presenting aspects of cultural, group and/or Canadian history
	Provincial Capital Commission Award Grade 4 to 10. Theme related to British Columbia's Provincial Capital City or Capital Region. Must highlight an aspect of history or heritage related to the BC Capital
